One of the hardest things to learn is to keep your amps quiet. After 30 years I still catch myself doing it.<br /><br />Keep your amp down and let the sound guys control the mix. When you try to participate in controlling the mix the levels rise feed back loops around, someone becomes louder than another...IT"S A MESS! It's simply not possible for us musicians on stage to hear the whole mix or know what's really going on. Listen to your sound man!!!<br /><br />All of the greats, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Marshall Tucker, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Satrianni, David Gilmore, Angus Young, Brian May, Carlos Santana, Richie Sambora, Kieth Richards, Kirt Hammett and even Slash use little bitty amps and keep the volume low.<br /><br />I remember the first time I saw Stevie Ray at Constitution Hall. The curtain opened and there was this amp about the size of a lunch box. I was shocked!
